Have a daughter 9-12 years old? Still Chicken to talk about puberty and sex? Let this unique Tucson program help.

chickens guideGirls 9-12 are on the brink of a major change in their lives and finding an effective and scientific way to discuss it can be very hard.  The Mother-Daughter program presented by Home Court Advantage is designed to allow Mothers and Daughters to learn side by side and equip them both with communication tools for the future.  Based largely on the book “A Chicken’s Guide to Talking Turkey With Your Kids About Sex” by Dr. Kevin Leman and Kathy Flores Bell, the day long program has definitely made an impact on how my wife and daughter communicate about puberty and sex.  The next program will be held 10/24/2009 from 9am to 4pm at the Hilton El Conquistador in Oro Valley, AZ.  The cost is $50.00 per family and includes the program materials and lunch at the resort.

Helldorado Days in Tombstone-Great weekend to explore Tombstone and SE AZ

_tombstone-street1Helldorado Days take place in Tombstone from 10/16-10/18.  This celebration of the history of Tombstone and the West is a great time to explore Tombstone and Southeast Arizona.  The weekend features gunfights, a cornocopia of characters in period dress, a family carnival and a Western Parade.  You’ll also find a variety of other Western shows, live Country Western music and great food.    If you love Harley Davidsons, this is also a great time to see a very nice collection around town.  If you’ve never been to Tombstone, this is a great time and it you’ve been there and thought it was a bit slow…this is a much more festive weekend.   More info for Helldorado Days is available at http://www.helldoradodays.com/.  There are quite a few other options down in SE Arizona during this same weekend, check out the Tucson Festival Calendar for more info.
